Weather should be part of the story!
« on: July 15, 2016, 03:56:31 PM »
seems like there is a mutual agreement with folks that weather should "not" be part of the story.

I disagree as it is a necessary part of every golfer's preparation or lack thereof.

thanks

I absolutely agree. Golf is an outdoor game. Weather obviously should be a major factor.

What folks? I haven't heard any of the competitors or commentators claiming that.

Of course it should be a part. It's an outdoor game. Play in Phoenix, deal with the heat. Play in Scotland and deal with ... whatever is coming at you this minute.

no one specifically this week has said it shouldn't be a part of the story, yet in general week in week out and probably unsaid this week or alluded to no doubt

even Jordan lamented that he may have had a disadvantage with his weather draw (early/late)

 8) 8) 8) 8)

He is right though isn't he? And that is why it is part of the story. The draw can wipe out significant chunks of the field, as it has this year.

Yea and if Brazil was in a drought Jordan would be playing in the Olympics.

Don't complain when you get a bad break.

Then you don't have to apologize when you get a good break.

I can't remember which announcer said this, but I liked his statement that a tournament on a links with changing weather means there are 72 different holes rather than the 18 holes out there!

the Greenbrier was cancelled due to a catastrophe yet we aren't talking about it

weather is part of golf

why isn't more it more of a story line, who is avoiding it?

the lead in by Dan Hicks for todays broadcast on NBC

"the forecast can be a little tricky as they say here in Scotland"

obviously, it's an outdoor game...but' it could be much improved later in the day" he says

WTF

is he insane?  I mean it's outdoors on the  west coast in Northern Scotland

the Open is golf as it was invented to be

maybe it's the emphasis on routine "or it's convenience" that grasps us all for the worse
