Rockaway Hunting Club aerial video (drone) on YouTube
« on: July 13, 2016, 05:01:31 PM »
I don't know how to cut/paste links or I would do so.  Just search "Rockaway Hunting Club" on YouTube and it should come up (dated 7/4/16).

Of course, it helps to have played the course to see the subtleties re: the recent renovation.  Also, nothing does the green complexes justice other than playing to them and on them.  However, there have been enough good threads about RHC that veteran readers will be able to see from the video what the words mean.

RHC is a very special place.

Good timing with the video as I've got fingers crossed I may be able to make it there end of August/early September. It's one place I've wanted to get to for a long long time.

just watched this video, and have some ?s that i'm almost embarrassed to ask since i caddied there for a couple summers and have played the course at least 20x (most recently in 2013):

1. are those traps b/t 1 and 2 new? i never recall traps on 1, i recall the trouble on 1 being some low trees if you missed far enough in either direction, but mostly the trouble on 1 was getting an approach to the right part of a very difficult opening green.
2. did they make the 7th green bigger in the front?
3. they definitely took out trees, anyone know how many?
4. did they lengthen 12? i dont remember it being 563...
5. did they emulate a local LI trend of ripping out cart paths for crushed shell paths taht play like waste bunkers?
6. i also dont recall those traps on the right side of 17 fairway.

I have played it many times myself - plus grass tennis and great squash facility. Wonderful walking course with fun par 5's, par 4's and par 3's. I love that video - really cool way to overlook a course.
Haven't played since yesterday, not playing until tomorrow, hardly playing at all!
