Why no trolleys? Is it due to the rules of the two courses? Some of us just can no longer carry a bag. For me, my 58 year old back cannot deal with this.

Mike,

Yes it is due to club policy.  Inverness has the largest caddie program in Ohio and SCC has a good size program as well.  Caddies are available at Inverness and SCC they are mandatory.

What a tremendous offer Ben!  If I were local I'd be on it in a heartbeat.  I'm interested to hear people's take on Inverness.

Thanks to all that came to gathering.   Congratulations to the OH/MI team on their victory, who went into Sunday trailing the 48ers by 1 point.  OH/MI 9.5 points to 48ers 8.5 points.  We had people come from 9 different states which was great.  Thanks to mother nature for the early August mild temperatures this past weekend.

I'd like to thank my Co host Matt and both Sylvania CC and Inverness for having us in season on a weekend.  Courses were splendid and the changes are very positive at both courses.

Thanks for putting together such a fun weekend Ben.  The courses were great, and the company was even better.  I should have some photos soonly.

Dear Ben,

I knew this event would be rigged.

Sincerely,

Mike and Joe have a crush on Trump.  If I had a dime for every time you mentioned his name, I could retire and play as much Golf as you two.  I even took you into the DNC headquarters in A2.

Ben,

I blame Joe.   I don't think I mentioned Donald Dump...er...Drumpf...a single time.

He's the instigator!   :P ;) ;D

Mike,

I'm interested in comparing lists of who would cut down more trees and which ones on which course  ;)

Left on the approach for #7 at Inverness needs to go.

The golfer who avoids the creek and takes the left-hand route into the rough already has a hornet's nest of problems to face on the next shot and the tree removes any viable option.   It's like beheading a man who's already been hung.

Great event Ben, excellent line up of courses.  It was great to meet a lot of other guys from the site and hear their thoughts on the two great courses.  I still haven't been able to fully tally the number of bunker shots I took at Inverness including all three on the first hole.

Ben,

I just see Larry David in your profile.   In a rare moment of Kavanaughian brilliance momentarily sweeping over me, let me ask what are your favorite Curb episodes and which should have been pruned to the cutting room floor like the tree on the left side approach on the 7th at Inverness needs?

Mike Cirba and I arrived a day early to play the University of Michigan golf courses.  First up was the Alister MacKenzie course.  I enjoyed it immensely.  Stormy weather was nearby but didn't threaten the round, but made for pretty decent lighting for a midday round.

Here is the photo album that I'm very happy with:

Note:  the course for 2016 is under a different hole-sequencing while a new clubhouse is under construction.

Gold Standard,

Great photo tour.  You made UofM look better in your photos then in person  ;) ;D

Really enjoyable and well-designed course that could benefit from a bit of tree removal and a drier presentation.

I found the 295 yard 11th hole to be quite photogenic.  Check it out!

The 11th at Michigan as good as anything at Crystal Downs in my humble opinion.

Next up in my appetizer rounds was a very late afternoon round at Radrick Farms, a very early Pete Dye design.

Some of the lighting was good, but much was much less so as our round finished at 9 PM.

Last of the appetizer rounds before the main courses of the TWGS feast, Mike and I visited Ottawa Park, a very old muni of the city of Toledo. Designed by S. P. Jermain in 1899.  SPJ was the first president of Inverness Club.  In the 70's Toledo's own Arthur Hills did work at Ottawa Park.  Still trying to figure out all those details.

FYI:  Ottawa Park hosted the first US Public Links championship in 1922 (Cobb's Creek hosted it in 1928).

Ottawa Park has some real neat old school stuff, much buried within trees.  All those trees so close make the photos less than ideal in many places.   >:(

The TWGS event began with an afternoon round at Inverness Club.  Weather was good and the course was a blast.

I think my photo album will nicely complement Ran's review from 2014:
