Witch Hollow at Pumpkin Ridge, or the Fazio course at Pronghorn was what I expected.

It's kind of fascinating: I don't know what the readership numbers are for GOLF, but there may be, right now, a million golfers out there who have played none of those courses, and about a thousand golfers in here who have played all of them. In another era, some of us would've been amongst the chosen few who got in behind the ropes at Studio 54, while the giant crowd of kids from the suburbs stood outside and gawked. Fast and firm is the new cocaine, Mike Keiser the new Andy Warhol, and our beloved Ran serves pretty well as Gay Talese.

They nailed South Carolina. Cherokee Plantation only has around nine members. They wouldn't let Ernie Els join!

Superintendent told me they only have around 500 rounds per year... and, half of those are by the pro!

Side Bar:  Cherokee Plantation is named after the Cherokee Rose, a native flower that grows wild throughout their 1400 acres. The head of the old American Motors was a member and loved the place so much he named the Jeep Cherokee after it.

Two independent sources in Indy told me it was sold for $12M and will become a housing development.

Old Waverly is interesting, as I think that one is accessible through staying at a local hotel (could be wrong).

I would not say TCC in Mass, just because it has a high number of members, so there are more people to have a connection with.  Myopia all the way...although accessible through a number of charity outings.

Surely there must be a more difficult to access course in Nevada than Shadow Creek? Provided you pony up the green fee and stay in an MGM hotel you're in.

RE: Southern Highlands and Shadow Creek.  I think if you are a big gambler and have a $50k plus credit line, you can let your host know where you want to play pretty much throughout all the Las Vegas country clubs, and you will be able to play.  I think many casinos buy individual memberships for hosts -- they will call you in as an unaccompanied guest. 

If you don't have a large line or don't gamble much, then Shadow Creek should be much easier to play than Southern Highlands -- the latter will require knowing someone or being at a club where the pro knows the SH pro.

I don't believe anything is official yet, but I do know a letter was sent to members.  Will for sure be open until the end of the year.

Wolf Run is still open. I'm 99% sure the Mashie will still be played there this year. Stuff happening in the background, but no final direction yet, as I understand it.

In Ohio, I think the two toughest courses to access would be Camargo and Pepper Pike Club.

I have to third that on Camargo.  Muirfield Village and The Golf Club are easier to get on than Camargo.    Not tried Pepper Pike (or Double Eagle, for that matter).

Well, to be fair Camargo does host US Am qualifying every year, so just have to be under a 2.4 handicap....

Although that may be harder than getting any of these courses for most people.
