Tim,

Yes, still picking my jaw off the floor on that one, although, I think the Hawks went into the series losing the last 4 regular season games.  Seed doesn't matter as much as who is hot going into the playoffs, which is why GM's are content to just get in the playoffs and go from there.

Congrats to the Preds, even though they are one of my least favorite teams. ;)

It helps when you have a god-like Pekka whose crease swimming is catching everything...at the moment.  Don't kid yourself folks, the 4-0 gameline is VERY flattering to Bubba.

It wasn't just Rinne. The Predators did to the Hawks what the Hawks have been doing to other teams for years. They outside the Hawks, held the puck and limited turnovers, and simply played smarter.

In so doing, they exposed the Hawks' defense as slowing (in comparison to the Cup years) and got them out of position continually. Nashville's top line schooled Toews' line - Bowman really has to find a legit pair of wingers for him - and so it went through the lineup.

Many a pundit picked Nashville to win the West this year, picks forgotten when the Predators stumbled out of the gate. Better to do that than stumble down the stretch. Now they look like a team that wouldn't look out of place in the Stanley Cup Final. And while some Hawks are headed to the World Championship, the rest are headed to the golf course.

So call it a fore-game sweep.

I will take the wait n' see approach with Bubba.  They were the better team, especially going forward, but the series could easily be 2-2 right now...thank Pekka that it isn't.  Come on, 2 goals in regulation over 4 games? No doubt about it, Pekka was comfortably Bubba's best player.  Fortunately, the West isn't so big and bad anymore. There is parity and I can see Bubba making the finals....if Pekka continues to be outstanding because defensively, Bubba is a middling team in the playoffs.
