Hualalei: Golf in a Zen Garden
« on: May 25, 2016, 05:09:29 PM »
Finally getting my snaps of the recent epic vacation together. Here's a selection of the first course we played in Hawaii. Hualalei is a very upscale resort with some very expensive real estate around the golf course. The course is Jack incarnate. Amazing attention to detail, clever landscape integration, superb conditioning, challenging but fun! Enjoy:

Glad you enjoyed the course. I have to admit I found it to be extremely boring and predictable. The amazing and wonderful thing about golf is that two bright, well travelled, and experienced golfers can play the same course and see two different things.

I see why Schwab and Roberts built Nanea.

I guess the phrase 'Jack incarnate' wasn't nearly ironic enough for you fellows... 8)
Still, hard not to have a freaking amazing time in Hawaii, baby. It's Hawaii, baby...!

Cheers,

Hualalai has a  Four Seasons on the  property which is very upscale.  Gates has a beautiful house on the ocean.  It's a pretty basic resort layout which gets a little better with the ocean closing holes, but nothing to really distinguish it. The Seniors just tear it up every year.  The private Weiskopf course adjacent is better.  If you had the opportunity way better to skip both and play Kukio and Nanea which is awesome.
