Skellig Bay Golf Club in Waterville, Ireland
« on: June 15, 2011, 11:44:41 AM »
Just about a month ago, I went to play a round at the great Waterville Golf Links, in Waterville (but that's for another topic...)

Now I just realized there was another course in Waterville that opened in 2006 and was designed by Ron Kirby: Skellig Bay Golf Club.

Has anyone on here played this course, and if so, is it worth playing while doing a loop on the Ring of Kerry??  Is it better than Dooks, as a secondary course to play on a trip?

Any input would be appreciated.

IMHO, not in the same class as Dooks.

I'm told an American investor has purchased this club and RTJ2 is doing a complete renovation.  Pretty amazing for a 2006 golf course to be bulldozed.

Any indication on the style of course they are building, Adam?

Good question.   It would be a tragedy if he built an American style golf course.

All I can tell you right now is that the whole place is being sandcapped

It was an incredibly wet site.

I hope they leave the stone walls but that aside, I'm interested to see what they come up with.
