Met Golfer

For those that live in the Met Section (NYC Tri state area) the Met Golfer this month is entitled The Architecture Issue. It has some good articles in it, a very good article about Lido, and one by Tom Doak about what makes a great green.

I guess not logging on for a few days combined with a slow mailman is not a good combination.

I am shocked at the lack of discussion of this magazine. With that I will start with the cover and ask: What the hell is that? note: Let's go through this page by page, the issue is that good, advertisements included.

Cover: What is it and why does it look like blueprints for a Chinese hotel?

pg 0-1 Kiawah Island. Is Mike Vegis still with the resort? If you could either retire to Charleston or Pinehurst which would you choose?

pg 2-3 Red Ledges. Why or why not?

I liked this from the Doak interview:

"I once told an associate that if he made the green look as different as possible from opposite sides of the fairway, that would be a great start to an interesting hole."

Bob,

Does that eliminate the Raynor templates?

Probably not his point. I'd bet what he said was what he meant to say and not something else.

Maybe Tom will chime in and correct us both. ;)
