Depeche Golf - new golf magazine concept
« on: April 12, 2024, 09:40:47 AM »
This week I became aware of a kickstarter for a new golf magazine - Depeche Golf. One of the two guys behind the magazine concept is GCA's Emil Weber.

Emil is a good follow on instagram, as you see him enjoying some golf adventures that I probably won't ever have. For me, sense of place is such an important part of a golf course experience, and Emil's photos and videos do a good job helping evoke those feelings.

The magazine he is starting will include his photos, which is good enough for me. I also like the idea of a European-centric golf culture magazine. I'm looking forward to it getting off the ground and thought some others here might as well.

Thanks for the headsup john; will check out today. I don't need another mag with swing tips and equip reviews
"Golf is happiness. It's intoxication w/o the hangover; stimulation w/o the pills. It's price is high yet its rewards are richer. Some say its a boys pastime but it builds men. It cleanses the mind/rejuvenates the body. It is these things and many more for those of us who truly love it." M.Norman

John,
thanks a lot for sharing!

Photography, golf adventures and sense of place certainly will be part of Depeche Golf. I do think a fair share of GCAers would enjoy the perspectives we're trying to take! There's no explicit architecture focus in issue #1, but that's definitely something we'll be working towards in the future.
Any support of the crowdfunding is of course hugely appreciated - you can secure magazine copies and more there.
Cheers,
Emil

Thanks Ward, that's good to hear!
It's really a lot of what it comes down to for me.

Dear All, I am very pleased that my first contacts in January 2010 on golfclubatlas.com with Emil Weber, who together with Mark Horyna is the initiator of Depeche Golf, have led to me becoming a humble contributor in issue #1. I sincerely hope that a printed golf magazine lacking adverts for the newest golf equipment and not advertising for the next golf trip to Andalusia will set the pace in Europe. Cheers and I wish you, Emil & Mark, every success, and many issues to follow.
