I like Champions, but it seems a curious choice of venue due to the weather in my beloved H-Teezy that time of year.

This is a gift from the USGA to Jackie Burke, who just celebrated his 93rd birthday on Friday.  He has been wanting to bring the Men's Open back to Champions, so this is the next best thing.  His wife was on the Curtis Cup team and is a good player, along with Jim Hardy's wife Marilyn.  It will be hot and humid!!!

June is hot all over America, if that's an issue don't play during the summer.

They have played in the Pinehurst area twice in the last decade.


They are playing Shoal Creek and CC of Charleston the two years before Champions.


None of those are exactly cool weather locales.

    I've only lived here 25 years but have to second Sam's point.   


April and May, September & October are great, June is quite fine, sometimes a little wet in fact... but we always like to get to Michigan in July and miss August as well!


The 2 Tour Championships at Champions were some good payback to JB, and I trust he'll be here in 2020, being an old Marine and all.   




Sadly I remember the piper going off into the morning fog in memory of Payne Stewart there...

I did notice that after taking a look at the schedule. Clearly they aren't afraid. If I can soldier through it all summer, I'm sure they'll be fine.

I also saw that they are going to play this the first week of June.


I'm sure it will be warm, but it won't be at the peak of the heat.
