Two Rare Photographs of Seth Raynor
« on: December 23, 2015, 04:24:53 PM »
The link will take you to a piece on my blog—from which I still have not made a dime— that contains two pictures of Seth Raynor that belong to the family.

Enjoy.

Excellent.
I wonder who else might be in some of those photos.

Thanks for posting these Anthony, and for the linked writeup.

I may be wrong, but it seems like I have seen one of these photos before somewhere.  The first one, I think.  I'll try to remember where.

EDIT.  Nevermind. I was thinking of another photo of Raynor and others at a picnic,  from Cummings' book on Southampton.

David:

I completely forgot she had included a camping photo in the book. The Raynors look to be in their late 40s, at least, in that one.

Love the "camping" reference, didn't appear to be in camping gear!

Just curious, has anyone made a dime off a blog?  😀

You aren't as hot as Danica, and aren't the others websites?  😜

Danica and the people who own those other website are making money. I am one of the people for whom the thought of making money is as far fetched as going for a long ride with Danica.

Very fascinating Tony.   Particularly interesting is the insightful description of the relationship between Macdonald and Raynor, particularly considering that Raynor essentially worked himself to an early grave by some accounts.

For a bit of whimsy in the holiday season, does anyone else see a resemblance between Raynor and Kylo Ren?

I include myself in the "nerd" category for being excited about these photos.

Judge,

If you can't get excited about photos of a dead guy you haven't met, then how could you ever find joy drawing the ball of a kick plate of a redan? Aren't we the cool kids anyway ???

Great pics of Raynor. Interestingly evokes memories of Crump sitting in woods in another classic photo from same era .
