Marty, my heart pines to be there but the Melbourne sandbelt will have to suffice as the distances are too vast to cover more than once every two years but I'm sure you'll all have fun.
Bill,
You ask "Is there a ferry.....?"
Which reminded me of the oft made trips across the Tay and the Forth during the late fifties and sixties when the ferries did run. You can just imagine the cringing, ducking and weaving that went on, by ten offspring, as my old man would play his violin to the captive audiences on deck as we wended our way to Edinburgh from Dundee. My Dad would throw his flat cap onto the deck after some Vivaldi or Mozart rendition and much to us kids astonishment Dundonians and Fifers would toss half-pennies and other copper into the hat! Dad always claimed that if we had just not denied him he would have shared the loot!
Happy Christmas to you all,
Cheers Colin
