Craig: Hey mate, you've delivered some good news there! It is way out of my control, but I sense your ten month wait was due to Pelican Publishing (USA) insisting upon shipping both volumes out from China on the same boat, as opposed to shipping when completed. Happy reading.
Huck: Your frustration comes through load and clear. As it stands, with Craig receiving V1 and Jeff V2, it seems as though both volumes are starting to trickle through. Hang
in there old bean.
Jeff: Delighted to hear that GAV-2 has arrived and you're enjoying it to date. What really pleased me was your comment about not agreeing with some articles. This was precisely the point of the project; to present a worldwide account of golf architecture - one certain to spark discussion and a range of opinions - not a one-dimensional view.
Regarding the Whistling Straits cover, some inside info: as publisher, my cover bias is unimportant in the overall scheme of things; however, it is critical that potential customers find the chosen shot appealing enough to purchase a copy. And so, I draw up a shortlist of three images and conduct a survey/ranking test around my street. Ninety-five percent of the residents voted Whistling Straits as their preferred cover. As it turned out, they confirmed my pre-testing publisher's bias to go for the WS cover image.
