I recently found an example of my home course's old logo (pictured below) on an old member directory. The logo below was replaced in the 1980's or early 1990's with a more modern version which is fine but not nearly as interesting and classic as the one below.
My question is for any "photoshop experts" here on GCA. Is there any good way to recreate the below logo so that the logo stands alone (in black), on a white backdrop? I've tried using Microsoft Paint to white out the beige in the picture below, but my results were not very good.
My intention is to take a "clean" version of the logo below to some of the folks in power at the course to see if it could potentially be readopted as either the logo or used sometimes as an alternate logo. If anyone can or could help me out with this, it would be much appreciated. Not sure what graphic design fees are like these days, but I would be happy to send some T&C merchandise in appreciation for the help.
