A happy GCA-er treading in the footsteps of Mary Queen of Scots, King James VI, Oliver Cromwell, and Mrs. Forman's customers.

A great trip from Gullane to New York -

9th at Friar's Head

Sun setting over Sebonack

My Dad teeing off at Winged Foot.  The trip was a 70th birthday present for him and he drove it better than me all three rounds!

I think people who chose to live in North Carolina are very smart, as are those who live in Oxfordshire.
Peter

What would you say about those who live in OXON, but are contemplating a move?

They will get less smart if they do. That's why we decided against moving.

 :D

Inbreeding?  I thought the Forest of Dean cornered that market.  I always speed up down the M5 when near.  In fact, I am a bit fearful visiting Painswick.

I must say Mr Cavalier got around in the past month.

Its not a beautiful photo, but it is a beautiful and fantastic hole.

Martin - Thanks for posting the pictures of Old Head, although you must not have gotten the memo that you are not allowed to express positive thoughts about the course on this forum as it has "no good holes," although your pictures surely show otherwise  ;)  John

Ah, the evil tiny wee 8th/17th at B&B's Channel course. Wonderful hole. Played it twice last week in a 4-club wind blowing against and off the right side and managed to achieve two 3's! :). Made my day, maybe my year!

Reference 'The Forest' - it has been suggested that the movie 'Deliverance' was filmed there with the protagonists paddling down the River Wye.

thanks, gents - wonderful photos.

David J - what a terrific birthday present you provided your father. I'd be curious to know which of the 3 courses he enjoyed the most.

A mild zephyr of 30-50 mph winds accompanied our GCAer threesome for 36 at the lunch club that day.   We had quite a blast.

I know photos can deceive but it appears that the play from the front tee box is a duck hook!
