At the risk of re-opening the debate the tournament ended with a five way tie for first at 7 over par. Oregon State
junior David Fink won on the fourth playoff hole (Bandon Dunes 18-17-18-17) with a birdie. The field averaged more than four strokes better on Bandon Trails on their second play (+329 in a 80 person field).
My cliff notes of hole by hole scoring
BD#9 and BT#1 were the only holes with no score above bogey. Downwind and short helps.
Only four holes at Trails (1,5,9, 12) had no 'other's. More than half of the Bandon Dunes (2,3,7,8,9,10,12,13,14,18) had no others.
I take this to mean you can get into trouble at BT, butDunes is right in front of you

Take a par on most of the par 3s and walk away smiling. Within the Bandon Dunescourse they were 8th ( #3), 6th (#6), 3rd (#12) and most (#15) hardest. Looking at Bandon Trails par 3s (excluding the fllip wedge 5th which was3rd easiest they ranked 5th (#2), 4th (#12) and 3rd (#17)
Looking at holes which dominated the discussion on this thread Bandon Dunes #5 was 2nd hardest on that course, #16 played the fourth most difficult. The 14th at Trails was 13th easiest. It dropped from about a 4.5 scoring on the first day to 4 1/4 overall so there must have been an easier hole location on the second day or the field figured out how to play it. The 16th was the only par five at the resort to play over par.
One ace, on Trails 5. Only par 4 eagles were on BD #5
and BD #8.
