Donald Ross of Montreal, Canada? Strange.

Certainly wrong, but the last paragraph matches what we know of the Scottish/American DR's Canadian activities at that time.

Hi Wayne,

I will start another thread about this interesting subject soon, but to answer your question, there have been two more clubs to get the royal title since Mayfair, Royal Auckland Golf Club (in New Zealand) and Royal Homburger Golf Club (in Germany) that received the title on 8 April 2013.

Scott

Sounds like Ross never made it to Edmonton during his Canadian tour.  The original Mayfair course was laid out by J. Munro Hunter.

Sven,

I didn't think he ever made it to Edmonton but, it's interesting to know that Mayfair was in contact with Ross.
