Where do we draw the lines on more information and signs?
Advertising the stimp makes no sense to me, especially once the player is already there (as opposed to shopping at Golf Now)


It's difficult for me to see why the player wouldn't simply observe the conditions on the putting green and course as he plays it and adapt.
What's next a wind ,temperature, and humidity gauge on the same sign?

What exactly is the goal of publicly reporting the stimp speed on a daily basis?  Why not post the rough height and sand depth in the bunkers as well

"Just to keep people informed" doesn't really explain anything. As you say, it's as useful as displaying the sand depth.

I disagree, I would think most people would find the resistant density of the sand far more important. When visiting other courses it is always the thing I would like to know. That and tree canopy ball porosity of course

I think golf was better back when we had little or no yardage info, greens were slower with more contour and everyone walked enjoyed the game and didn't complain about less than perfect turf conditions, inconsistent sand etc. JMHO

+1 certainly it was purer in form and required more skill.
