Q School at Bear Lakes

Looking at course maps I was really suprised at the amount of waters on a "links" course. I expected it on a course called Lakes.

It is good to see J P Hayes leading, since he disqualified himself from using an unapproved ball at last years Q school final.

Pete, it's Florida. Where do you think they got the soil to build the course several feet above the water table?

Actually when you are on the course you do not sense there is that much water. Both are good Florida courses and totally different from each other. You really need to hit the ball in the right section of the greens on the links as the greens are severely undulating - every one of them!

I'm a little sentimental about Bear Lakes because I spent a winter there 20 years ago as a bagroom and cart attendant.
I even got a chance to caddie for Mark Calcavecchia in one tournament.
The Links was always considered the easier of the 2 courses, but I guess they put some teeth into it not long ago
with a re-do.  The Links name really comes from the out and back of both nines, as well as the mounding and native
areas that the Lakes course doesn't have. 
The water is definitely more noticeable on the Lakes, but it's definitely in play on the Links on #'s 2, 4, 5, 6, 10, 14, 16, and 17.

It looks as though there have been some good changes to the course.  I played both courses, maybe ten years ago and couldn't wait to get on the road.  It sure looks more interesting around the greens now.

may have a chance to play either course at bear lakes next week for $160. which would you reccomend? are either worth that amount? they look challenging, but are they good challenging or tricked up challenging?
