These ESPN guys need a fact finder. Evidently, the USA came into existence about 60 years ago.

I heard this too and couldn't believe my ears! I like Zinger too but that was an uninformed statement if I ever heard one.

Azinger appeared to not know the ball moving on green after address -deemed caused to move rule had been changed

I still can't get over how Azinger recommended that a player (I forget who) declare his ball unplayable in a bunker and then drop outside the bunker in the 2012 Open, which is of course not possible.

He is a pretty decent commentator. When he sticks to what he knows.

I heard that too, and thought maybe he was referring to the neighboring Old Course. 


He also referred to the Beardies on 14 as the Coffins!

I'm not a big Azimger fan, but as someone who made his living speaking in front of people, it is easy to say something wrong, know it's wrong, and not pick up on it.  As a whole I think they do pretty well staying on task for such a long period of time. It is pretty easy to let your mind wander.  Azinger knows how old the New Course is.  He has mentioned it previously.

I didn't mean to come across negatively about him because in the whole he seems to be a really good commentator( and to his credit much improved from when he started a few years ago.) This is a very well done broadcast in what must be a grueling situation. They show how much more experienced they are at this than Fox.

Is the timestamp incorrect here, or did he say this two days in a row? Because I heard it this morning and my head nearly exploded. That said, I think he's generally pretty decent and certainly an improvement over the last major...

It's a fair point, nobody expects perfection. But it's an odd mistake to make on what had to be a prepared comment, and to make it two days in a row is really strange.
