Great Golf Club---no Pool
« on: June 24, 2015, 04:04:36 PM »
I'm hoping Beverly's pool has sprung its last leak. Who can come up with names of great private golf clubs without pools?

In Chicago, we have Shoreacres, Old Elm and Butler. Cypress Point has no pool. Any other offerings??!

This may seem crazy to post on GCA -- but I love having a pool where I play golf! The summers might be short in Minnesota, but every once in a while it's pretty darn nice taking a couple of dives off the board and drinking a few bootleggers!

Does it count if the club has a pool but no one uses it?

How about a pool table? Lots of respectable courses have pool tables.

Terry:

Blackhawk CC in Shorewood Hills (Madison, really...) has no pool and no tennis courts. Is it a great course? Maybe not -- but it's a lot of fun, and it's golf only; the only private club in the Madison area that lacks a pool. (Maple Bluff is planning on building a new one as we speak).

I think Blue Mound G&CC is a pretty darn good club, and they don't have a pool.

Sounds like the Bev will be changing their name to Beverly Golf Club... 8)   good call IMO if the heavy family demand is no longer there.

Bears Club
McArthur
Dye Preserve
Seminole

Live Jupiter, Fl, was  4 handicap, played top 100 US, top 75 World. Great memories, no longer play, 4 back surgeries. I don't miss a lot of things about golf, life is simpler with out it. I miss my 60 degree wedge shots, don't miss nasty weather, icing, back spasms. Last course I played was Augusta

Easily avoided. Just mention your country of choice in the title.  ;D

Lots of UK clubs have snooker tables.  Southerndown in Wales has a beauty.
