Hidden Creek update
« on: September 28, 2015, 10:17:57 PM »
 8) :)

Hidden Creek is looking really good for the US Senior Am being played this week in bucolic EHT ,  no rain for a long time here in SJ so the fescue is a glorious brown and the fairways are rolling out nicely !  Really a nice event as the 36 hole qualifier seems perfect . Thought 150 was the number for the cut  to 64 for match play and it fell close. Had 12 playing for one spot at 151 , won by lone birdie  on #10,  the first playoff hole.

Cut to 32 today and the golf course today (  Monday)  with some great matches  Defending U.S.  and British Senior Am champ Pat Tallent knocked out on 19th hole. Same with MD standout Marty West.

Fun to watch course play to Coore and Crenshaws design of firm and fast. James Duncan would be so happy. Greens aren't cranked up , which surprises me a little, but it's early in week and it could get really gnarly if overdone as they are really tricky .

Couple of our Philly home boys still alive , rooting for a homey!

Jeff , will do it for you !  If I get a chance will say hello if you think it  appropriate . Don't want to scare him .

We are down to Chip Lutz , which isn't a bad last man standing but lost two heartbreakers today .

The course is really getting firm and fast , fairways running out .  Over the green is in play , which you rarely see anymore . The fescue ten yards deep has grabbed a couple unsuspecting  golfers.

It's quite a commitment for a club to,host an event , particularly with little or no revenue.  Hats off to the
Hansen family for staging a nice event . Having hosted an LPGA event at Greate Bay , its not all gravy for sure!

He doesn't scare easily--tell him hello if the opportunity presents itself.

Ok, one philly guy left

I saw Brandes play a couple holes the other day and he hits it long and solid . Obviously on quite a roll. It's getting a little dicey weather wise with rain and wind . Might favor Brandes, as Chips home court advantage is mitigated slightly.

Should be a great final!.
