For some reason, one of the pictures isn't loading.  I think your question about shrinkage has to do with the 12th green at TCC, yes?  If so, yes, it does look like it has shrunk on the left a bit from the picture.  I'm not sure though as I was long right off the tee and too preoccupied with trying to avoid a double to examine the green pad.  Perhaps some of the TCC guys can comment?

As for that bunker at BGC, it was being maintained, but roughly so.  It was in the tree line on the inside corner of a dog-leg and the caddies had a name for it that I won't repeat here.  Suffice it to say, they named it based on the unpleasant experience of trying to get out if your attempt to cut the corner goes awry.

Really great. Feel free to do more tours. As you know and we discussed I'm going to be visiting these courses in the fall. Your tour only makes me look more forward to the experience. It's interesting to me that being such an excellent golfer as you are that you stamp a course as too difficult for daily play as per your liking.


To me the course from the photos that's hard to ascertain. Could you perhaps expand on that all things considered. What about the course exactly made you feel that way. Or was it only due to the fact you were a bit tired?

That's a good question, David.  I'll be interested to get your take on Old Sandwich when you are there.  It might very well have just been the length of the day, and the fact that my body and brain were fried. 


Reflecting on it, my original comments were driven by my perception of the demand for precision, especially on the approaches.  And I can only imagine how difficult it would get with the wind blowing (it was relatively benign when we played it).  The course would definitely be fun to learn, and you can score if you hit good shots (I was -1 through 10 before the wheels came off).  It is just one of those courses though where you better show up ready to play, or it is going to be a long day.

Has the pleasure of playing BGC and TCC in one day on a similar trip a few summers ago. Thanks for the photo tours - all 36 holes on the two courses are still quite memorable two years later and the atmosphere at both clubs was hard to beat.
