The funny part about this thread is the whining and/or complaining about two terrific golf courses, especially golf courses that are accessible to all.
What's not to like ?
Who amongst us would be unhappy to play either course every day for the rest of our lives ?
OK, so I favor the Blue.
I don't get it.
Streamsong is great.
Bandon is great
Kohler is great
Pinehurst is great.
Pebble Beach is great.
And all I hear is washawoman complaining.
All I know is I get there, change into my golf shoes, go to the range, hit balls, then to the starter who introduces me to my caddy, whose chops I immediately bust, then to the first tee for a round on a great course on a nice hot, sunny day in Florida while my friends are freezing in New Jersey.
What's not to like ?
Oh dear, I had to walk all the way back across the bridge on # 7 and up to the tee on # 8.
Yikes, tragedy. Not perfection to a purist, I get it, but, in the overall scheme of things, given what the site was before it was converted to golf, you have to take your hat off to Tom Doak and C&C.
How about the walk from # 6 green to # 7 tee and the wow factor when the 7th green came into view.
How about the view of the golf course from the 1st tee, with the wind in your face.
Each hole is a treat.
Is there a weak hole out there ?
When you finish the round do you feel deprived ?
Do you feel that the golf course was less than adequate ? Less than terrific ?
Hey, I'm pretty fussy when it comes to golf holes and I didn't see any clunkers out there.
I saw nothing but quality holes without repetition.
Especially given that the site is an abandoned phosphate mine from the moon.
So, let's talk about Streamsong in terms of it's ability to provide 36 holes of quality golf.
Hopefully, 54 holes in the not too distant future.
End of rant
