Anyone know the status of the Tom Watson course that was supposed to break ground near Hyannis?

Younger architect out of Southern California.  Has recently done renos at Palos Verdes and Brentwood CC. currently working on Quail Lodge in Carmel, CA.  Couple more renos this summer in the LA area and one near San Fran.  Consults at some decent courses.  Stays busy.  Tommy Nac could surely give you a robust CV should you need one.

Brian:

Kensington Golf Club in Canfield, OH (also a Brian Huntley design) was built in 2006 according to most sources online. Ohio Golf Guide shows 2007. Not sure how accurate that is though.

Todd is a very good guy.  had more than a little to do with the design of Barona Creek which is definitely worth playing.

If I remember correctly, the same developer opened Shale Creek and The Quarry around the same time.

Wood side Golf Course in Lansing Michigan added its final three holes in 2013 I believe or late 2012. It's a 12 hole course.

Sure, here's a few from the last GC Best In State List (my guess is you could go through all of the recent lists and get a pretty good idea as to what has been built lately and when):

WA - Gamble Sands
SC - Cliffs at Mountain Park
NE - Dismal Red/Tatanka
AZ - Sewailo
NY - Ferry Point
FL - Esplanade
VA - Potomac Shores
IA - The Falls
UT - Canyons
ND - Minot

And I was sincere in asking what you were hoping to learn from this.  Is it what architects are getting work?  What kind of courses are being built? 

There's an interesting thread here if you apply some analysis.

I was curious as to what states are several years behind on recent construction, like my state.  I would love to see some fresh construction from a great architect in Kentucky, we just don't have the sandy soil that appeals to those guys.  There is land here that could be good for a solid design.

As you stated, I also wondered how many of the recent builds were from younger, "up and coming" architects as opposed to the same old guard.

Are courses only being built as resort destinations?  Are there ANY subdivision courses still being built?  Any courses built that have planned to open as a private?

I also feel that when you open up something of a broad topic to this board, it can lead you in a direction could be interesting.

-Journey at Pechanga in Temecula

or

-Yocha Dehe at the Cache Creek Casino

Maybe no coincidence that both of these courses are associated with casinos...

Rams Hill. It closed for four years and now is reopened as a new course.
