Fair enough.  In the last 6 years, Michigan is 3-1 vs. Northwestern with 2 no plays.  If you go to 8 years it is tied 3-3.  Therefore, this year will be the tiebreaker and Northwestern has the advantage of hosting.  Being the sport that I am, I will not ask for points, even though these equals are at your home.  The bet is Dinner and golf at the course of the winners choosing upon the winners next visit!

Sick thing is I can't disagree with that assessment at all... even the part about a silly loss this year... all the tough games seem to be on the road.

That is, besides the October breather in Indiana.  Maybe that opponent will come within 30 this year.

Leeds, designer of the Myopia Hunt Club, as the architect to represent Michigan, Northwestern and every other school in the Big Ten and beyond with supporters like those in this thread...

I would nominate Notre Dame football being like Rees jones.  Some major success, some disappointments, varying opinions on the material in which to work with, unending and needless hostility and bias toward, and always conducting themselves in a class manner.

For every once of hostility and bias toward the domers, there is a pound FOR them.  Puh-leeze.  The bandwagoneering for Notre Dame is the most pure reason for intelligent sports fans to hate them!

I will say this:  their teams do generally conduct themselves in a class manner.  That is one of the very few positives for an institution given such most favored nation status that all it takes is 8 or 9 wins or whatever and it's automatic BCS bowl....

Jeff Brauer to me is Santa Clara (basketball) - great teams, not enough publicity, and when they finally get some the name is screwed up (he was Keffrey, we are often called UC Santa Clara).

Whats really funny is that my son is currently thinking about attending Indiana University.

Good for him!  Mr. Wigler will be amazed that after 18 years of planning to attend the mighty U of M, I switched to Indiana at the last minute.  Got degrees from both IU and Northwestern.

That's right, 6 years of school, 2 degrees, and about 3 football wins total.  And the wins were all against each other.  I don't care if Northwestern or IU win national championships the next 5 years, they will always suck!

The most excruciating moment came when IU visited Ann Arbor my senior year.  I sat on the first row on the fifty yard line, and celebrated as we scored to tie the game with 30 seconds left.  Michigan throws 3 incomplete passes, then completes a 60 yard touchdown pass to Anthony Carter (40 yards of which was a run!) with no time left.

Every November while I was growing up, the Wolves would break my heart by losing a big game.  Then they break my heart by winning one!

Coore and Crenshaw are, of course, the Texas Longhorns. Because both's best efforts are of the timeless variety. We Horn fans vividly remember the '69 and '70 seasons like they were yesterday. Just ask us, we think we should be defending national champions every year, even though our last NC was 33 years ago.

Wait, maybe that makes us the Eddie Murphy of college football.

Tom H. Are you aware that the ND quaterback got hurt early in the game last year?  this changed the offense and also made for a tired defense.  I will match not only Notre dames record against anyone, but would also like to point out that they win the right way with student athletes.

Your ignorance regarding Santa Clara does not help your cause for other issues here.  And we just are nationally-ranked in volleyball, which is played indoors on hardwood, thank you very much.  It's SOCCER in which our little school defeated all the biggies and won a national championship recently... in fact we are pretty much without question the #1 soccer program in the nation when mens and women's are combined.

Of course, we also have football glory, and since you are so into the past, you ought to look it up.

The fascist NCAA with the rules changes prevents schools like ours from maintaing football programs these days.  You can research that a bit if you care to also.

In the meantime, I remain very proud of my alma mater.  

Are you an ND alum?  If so, you can pick on my alma mater.  If not, pipe down and stick to anti-USC comments.  At least then we have common ground, each rooting for a school we did not attend.

Yeah, having one of the other crappy QB's really would have changed things in last year's ass-kicking.  Keep telling yourself that.  It helps my case when I call ND fans "deluded."

My roommate my Junior year was in the movie "RUDY".
I believe that he also wrote some of the screen play or story prior to Tri-Star's involvement.

Like Hoosiers, I enjoyed the movie.

I hope that you're not one of those golfers that clings to their only birdie in the last ten years, as if it signifies the substance and totality of their golfing career.

Here are few things that you'd probably like to forget.

ND's academic recruiting standards are high
ND's graduation rates for its scholar-athletes are very high
ND has a great tradition
ND has a great record
ND has a history of running a clean program
ND has no athletic dorms
ND's schedules are amongst the most difficult

Lastly, I didn't realize that they had awarded the National Championship this early in the season, who won it ?

I guess it's not just the shamrocks that are green.
