Thanks for the replies. 

Watching shots bound over and through the green definitely had me wondering about the maintenace meld with the architecture.  That said, I hate to see a course dumbed down by unecessarily wet conditions.  What would people say to the fairway being extended further left where the newish trees are, but leave the trees in the fairway?
