Spring Opening for St Emilion

Just heard from Kristel Mourgue d'Algue that the St Emilion course, built for her family by Tom Doak and crew, will open its first nine holes for play in May, with the full course ready from September. Memberships available, green fee expected to be around Eu95.

A Bordeaux vineyard trip has been on my bucket list for some time, and this new course has just made that a higher priority.  Any other must-plays in that region?

Bill Coore and Rod Whitman's courses at the Golf du Medoc resort on the other side of the city are both well worth a visit. Nice hotel there too.

I'm making presumptions here but I take it Frank may like myself think the price is steep. I would also hope that this is the price for 18 and not for the nine which opens this year.

Les Logis du Roy, Au Logis des Remparts and Maison de la Commanderie are decent value in town...nothing special but fine for golfers.  The Logis are long recognized for decent accomodation and food at decent prices  I think the organization is in shakeup at the moment...raising standards. 

If the Mrs is along or you have some spare cash, Les Belles Perdrix de Troplong Mondot is very good, maybe 1 mile outside of town...they get you on food and drink.  

I really like Château de Courtebotte, but its about 30 miles away...very cool place though.
