OK, I sound like a Bob Seger song, but can you help me out?

I'm going to be on the road hocking my wares from Buffalo to Nashville in March and I have few days when I might play golf if weather allows.. but I have no idea where to play... it's a big country - the USA. Any suggestions welcome - public courses, or private clubs who accept 'award winning golf journalists' - I'm all ears. Thanks in advance for any help.

Here are my no concert, possible golf days (and BTW - I'm more than happy to play with any GCA-er who doesn't ask me to ride a cart... I'm not much of a golfer but I'm fairly fast.)

March 18th - Ann Arbor. I drive there from Buffalo (concert the night before). I can be in Ann Arbor by 1 PM, I think. I don't need to eat until after the golf.

March 22nd - I'm driving from Fort Wayne to DC. I don't need to get to DC for anything other than sustenance and sleep. I guess golf somewhere around Pittsburgh would make most sense, in terms of driving...

March 24th - I'm driving from DC to Chapel Hill. Open to all and any suggestions.

March 27th and 28th - I start in Asheville, NC and I need to be in Nashville, TN on the 29th. Open to all and any suggestions.

I'll probably be carrying hickories and I'm more than happy to play for small $$ off a USGA 10 (steel handicap 6) with them (OK that may be a little optimistic but I'll stand by it).

Between Asheville & Nashville is easy - Holston Hills in Knoxville. It's about halfway between the two cities & a lot of fun. If I can't make it down there to join you (with hickories) would still be glad to make arrangements for you to see it.

March 18- Leslie Park might be open in Ann Arbor.  Ottawa Park in Toledo, one the oldest Public tracks in the country.  Most courses don't open till April, but these are munis.  I recommend Fritas Banditos for lunch/dinner in A2

March 27/28- Play Sweetens Cove, its 30 min west of Chattanooga on your way to Nashville.

I'm sorry. There was no time at all for golf on the recent tour. I will be back and I will have a better way to keep up with my comings and goings soon (new website).

Agreed that Ann Arbor will be very tough in March.  We've been getting plenty of snow and cold, and even if things turn around soon here, you won't likely find anywhere decent to play until early April at best.  There is some very good golf here for a warmer visit - particularly Barton Hills (restored Ross) and the U of M course (Mackenzie). 

Best of luck with the tour.  The Ark is a fantastic venue.

Thanks for all the input and PMs. I am indeed such a stupid. I just felt that getting way from HERE would be escaping the snow but I guess Ann Arbor has it too and I won't get any warmth until I reach Asheville... maybe I'll get some golf en route from DC to Chapel Hill on 3/24... but I guess I need to focus on 3/37 and 3/28 en route from Asheville to Nashville (sounds like a song).
Any suggestions welcomed and I need to figure out where to eat/sleep these two nights also so any recommendations welcomed...

As an aside I did just manage 3 more birdies on TOC vs last time I played, and today was only 16 holes, last time was 36 (no birdies). But last time was golf and today was a golf simulator with the boy. Yes, we are in bad shape in golf starved freezing North.
