St. Petersburg, FL golf question
« on: January 20, 2015, 02:55:28 PM »
I am headed to St. Pete for a family spring break in April.  I'd like to spend 2 or 3 afternoons that week as "spring training", practicing somewhere near St. Pete Beach.  Would anyone be kind enough to recommend a nice practice facility?  I'd prefer a place that would allow me to hit off grass and has a short game area as well.  If there are private clubs that might offer this to a guest, I am happy to contact them to inquire.  Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

A buddy of mine there plays at a place called The Vinoy. Its a resort course so they might be willing to sell you a bucket of balls.

Hi Ted,

My in-laws are in St. Pete and I have practiced at Mangrove Bay Golf Course.  It's a city-operated course, but I think the practice facilities will be fine for what you need.  They have grass tees, and also separate pitching / sand practice greens.

I believe Brittany Lincicome used to play there, so that may be an indirect testimonial to its practice capabilities.  It's also a First Tee location, and those tend to have above-average practice facilities.
