Work has begun at LuLu to implement the Master Plan developed by Forse Design!

As Redanman indicated over 130 trees (All of them “in play” or having detrimental impact on greens and/or tees) have been removed! The smell of pine still permeates the air!  The vistas and ground contours now visible are impressive. More tree work is expected during future “winter storms” ;D! After struggling with the “tree issue” for several years leading up to the implementation of the Master Plan the membership is surprised at the course they now see.

Bunker restoration (work being done by Country Golf) has also started.  To date, the bunkers on the first three holes have been cored out, and shaped to original configurations.  “Archeological” digs will occur shortly to rediscover missing bunkers – most notably on #5. The attention to detail by Ron Forse, Jim Nagel (Forse Design) and Country Golf is impressive and I’m sure will result in an outstanding restoration.

I’ll be posting before, during and after pictures of the work once I relearn how to post pictures here.  For those of you in the area interested in seeing the work, drop me a line at LuLuGolfer@Comcast.net

Square off that 17th green; get the cross bunker back into that great uphill par-4 on the front (6th?). A great piece of land, and even with the dopey parking lot blocking up that hole on the front nine (11-12 or so) it's got a load of potential. Only 130 trees? That's like kindling wood.

The 130 trees referenced were taken down over 4 days!  This is in addition to the 150 taken down since Ron started working on the Master Plan and there are another 100+ in our sights.  Not bad for a course that sits on 110 acres.

All bunkers referenced are being brought back.  Unfortunately the parking area cannot be relocated to bring back the 12th as designed by Ross (in the winter months when the lot is empty, some of us play the hole as intended – despite it being a blind par 3!).

When you are in the area, let me know, I'd love to show you the progress we have made.

I certainly hope some of the first trees removed were on #14.  Taking the trees out from behind #8 would make fun approach a little more iffy in depth perception area.

I agree with Brad, restoring #17 to the original would be a stunner.

During the "discussion phase" of the project, Steve made a lot of great points (as well as friendly persuasion) about returning 17 to it's former glory.  

I've seen Ron Forse's plans, and they are BOLD.  The club should be given a LOT of credit for where they are today, and where they are going.  They are going to take a very good course and turn it into a superb one.
