Maybe OT - What I'm thankful for, Jean Beliveau
« on: December 10, 2014, 12:52:30 AM »
In honour of the late great Jean Beliveau, I would like to let everyone know what FOUR things have made 20-FOURteen better than the rest.  First I would like to point out how amazing Jean was.  Not only a top notch player, but also a first class Captain.  Not only a first class captain, but an even better human being. He has set an example for a young individual like myself to strive for.  Is there anything better in life than to have people say after your passing that you were a "Great Person."

With no further adieu, my incredibly lame list;

1.  My incredible son Jack.  He was born on May 20th and  has brought so much love to my life.  I sometimes sit back and wonder, "is this what it was like raising Sidney?'  ;) (Canada Joke)

2.  Will - This guy has made life so enjoyable and with him being so busy the last year has made the heart grow fonder.  All the best buddy and look forward to the time we do get to spend together. (Lamest answer of all I know)

3.  Doak's Philosophy - I know that someone is going to contest the idea, but Doak's ideals have completely changed golf all over the world.  He has reintroduced ideas that have become the norm.  Jack's future golf courses are now better due to Tom.  That is saying something.  Congrats Tom for not only being a raconteur but also a leader by example.

4.  Ran.  This website has been an absolute pleasure to read and to now participate in.  It has brought great insight and great frustration.  But one thing it has really done is turned a golf fan into a golf fanatic.  I love the golf industry and LOVE the golf architecture industry.  I can't wait to see where things go in this business.  I wish it wasn't such a business, but it wouldn't be where it was if it wasn't.  Thanks Ran and everyone who participates.

Merry December.  It's the greatest time of year.

WOW!! Jean Beliveau?
I met him in 1975 at Mt. Sutton, a ski resort in the Quebec eastern townships. Rode up on the chairlift with him.

Had just played at the World Pee Wee hockey tournament in Quebec City and M. Beliveau wanted to hear all about it.
I was beaming for days.

Had not heard that he had passed now that i am in the US. (Since the 70's)
Very fond memories of my father taking me and my two brothers to "the Forum" to watch the Habs.

Thanks for that, Mike.

This was so cool.

I mentioned this to Will MacEwan last night, but Habs fans are the best. 95% of those people had never seen him play. But they know.

The greatest Canadien.

Thanks for the post - very cool.

Best part of it was the family together. In a time where that is taken for granted by soo many, it's nice to see it front and center here.
