Mr. Lavin and I think this picture of Mr. Lewis in the Devil's Asshole bunker on the 9th hole at Dunes Club fully captures the architect's intent.  Mr. Lavin feels it shows the architect's ability to frustrate the aggressive, or in this case cocky, player.

I get it, you are mad at the world because you are an adult caddie and few people take you seriously.

Excellent spellers usually lack any vision or common sense.

I know plenty of courses that are in the red, and they are killing it.

One should also note that the offended competitor is wearing a Kingsley sweater.  He got himself a little dose of SW Michigan pain that day.  Luckily enough we pour a great painkiller at Dunes Club.

Made me think. So many of our pleasures happen in the evening or at night.

Golf is about the day, I would have loved this picture if it was a sunset.
What a day that must have been.

But a sunrise like that over a golf course.
The promise of that day boggles the mind.

Deep in the winter, I thank you Alex.
Let's make GCA grate again!

Tony,

I'm more of a twilight golfer myself, but glad I could be of some assistance for what is presumably a cold winter for those elsewhere  :).

This could go on the Best Moments of 2014 thread, but here is a photo of Mike Benham walking to the 10th Green at Sand Hills in the evening with the moon in the sky,

Probably after sticking his approach!

Mr. Freedman simply likes taking golf photos.
His entry remains the first one...
That's the 1st at Richmond Country Club.

Nice shot of #5, Kyle.
We'll have to get together to play and shoot, sometime.
Or, maybe the other way around.

I know that the subject matter is over reproduced and I really, really wanted to use one of my UK pictures from August but having looked things over this strikes me as the most vivid photo I took this year...

My wife and I tee'd it up at Tippecanoe Country Club 6 years to the day after getting hitched on the driving range tee (seen in this pic).  She still hasn't figured out why she did it.

Re: 2014 PHOTOS OF THE YEAR THREAD - FINALISTS POSTED
« Reply #199 on: December 29, 2014, 08:44:02 PM »
Here are the Finalists for 2014.  With a banner crop of entries it was tough to narrow them down to just five.  It should be noted that entrants did not earn extra points for multitudinous posts or photos that could be equated to bragging about being able to drive a Par 4.  I did, however, enjoy the nod to Ran's latest message that showed up late in the thread.

Please pick one photo in Category A (Category B's winner is noted below) and submit your vote either by posting in this thread or by sending me a Private Message.  Since we got a late start this year, I'll close the voting at the end of the day on Jan. 1.

In lieu of prizes this year I will be making a donation to the fund for Ted Cahill's son.  If anyone who has not yet donated wishes to match, please feel free.

Memorials can be made to:

c/o Margaret Bottorff

Iowa City, IA 52245

A special nod to Padraig Dooley, who would have been in the running this year for his Lahinch Goats if he hadn't won last year.:
