Who designed Golf St-André, near Carillon, Québec
« on: November 08, 2014, 12:33:29 PM »
I moved to the north shore of Montréal and looking for a place to play one evening, I ended up at golf St-André, near Carillon Québec...

built around 1929, it is definitely the best set of greens and holes I've seen at a Quebec public course. It's a 27 holes facility, witn only 18 holes open now (probably the original course).

1st hole: Fairway slinding in between mounds leading to a redan green
2nd hole: a monster par three 235 yards uphill with an optical illusion of the tee and an amazing green.
5th hole: small man made mounding par -3
6th hole: dogleg split fairway par 5..

on a peninsula on the Outaouais river

a stanley thompson Robert Trent Jones routing ????

All in fun ....  ;)

Stan was working at Montebello building 27 at the same time.
I've gone through the Canadian Golfer's archives and every reference I have to Stan and found nothing.

With every golf development bubble, the end was unexpected and brutal....
