Notes:

The List contains Portland GC (Portland, OR) with a date of 1914.  From the article below (The Sunday Oregonian, March 14, 1914), it is my understanding that the Club was looking to develop land in the Tualatin Valley, which is located south of where the club sits today.  I'm curious if (a) Bendelow's course was ever built and (b) the proposed site was actually the location of Tualatin CC, which is attributed to Egan and Junor in 1912 (the Annual Guides give a date of 1914 for the organization of the Club, which fits with this timeline).

It is also curious that the article notes an "extensive course" in Florida just laid out.  The earliest records of his work in that state only date to 1916 for Palma Ceia.

Sven, the list is correct for Edina Country Club (which began as simply The Country Club) -- it opened in 1923 as a 9-hole course, and my information says that Bendelow remodeled and expanded the course to 18 holes in 1924.

The only references I have seen to the course using that name is in the article sited (and it should be noted that the other article notes the course was in North Carolina, not Virginia.

There was a course by the name of Albemarle CC in Charlottesville, VA (I have no attribution information for this course) that is listed in the Annual Guides with a date of organization of 1914, and I wonder if they are one and the same.

Your post #72 has a clipping from a Richmond paper (Times Dispatch?) about a course in C'ville, VA.  The course's location "on Rugby Road" would put it close to the UVA campus.

I found a reference to Albemarle GC being on Meade Rd. which is due East of the campus.  The article you referenced noted the Bendelow course being North of it. 

I think the mystery of whether or not this course was ever built is still very much open.

While Bendelow was in El Paso during 1916 working on the Country Club course, he was also pushing for the development of a Municipal golf course in that town (article from the Sept. 8, 1916 edition of the El Paso Herald).  El Paso did build 27 holes of public golf in 1923, for which I have no information on the architect.  One to add to the list of possibilities.

There is a second instance of Bendelow promoting municipal golf with a course subsequently being built, this time from Cleveland.  The March 21, 1913 edition of The Evening Independent contained an article discussing Bendelow's desire to build a course on the city farms at Warrensville.  The Highland Park Municipal GC in Warrensville is reported in the early Annual Guides with a date of formation of 1913.  The course is noted as having 9 holes in the 1916 guide with 9 more being added.  This course, also, remains unattributed, although Sandy Alves is given credit for work in the late 20's.

I am confused about the reference to the Ft Worth Golf Club. The newspaper article says it is in the banks of the Red River.The Red River is 79 miles away? And was this course ever built?

Pretty sure that Fort Worth GC and Rivercrest are one and the same.  My guess is that the reference to the Red River was a mistake, and it should have been the Trinity River.

A Feb. 11, 1912 The Sun article notes Fort Worth GC finished its 6,300 yard course.

As do I.  Bryn Mawr was on a previous version of the ASGCA list, and has since been removed.  It is included in the list of courses built by American Park Builders, and at one point I think it was included on the Bendelow list by mistake.

Right now, I'm going to take it off the listing in this thread.

Sven -- Bendelow re-designed the original, member-created 9-hole course at Golden Valley in Minnesota -- when it was known as the Minneapolis Golf Club. The story's a bit convoluted; Bendelow first arrive in August 1916 -- just before taking the train to El Paso -- and laid out stakes for an 18-hole course. Work began that fall, but was not completed because most of the membership left the site for a new piece of land in St. Louis Park that October. The remaining 40 members changed the name of their club to the Golden Valley Golf Club, and brought Bendelow back the following spring. With a reduced budget, he laid out a new 9-hole course, which opened on April 28, 1917. Bendelow returned to Golden Valley that fall and designed a new 18-hole course. That course opened in 1918. It was later tweaked by several people, including William Watson, but Golden Valley got a complete redesign by A.W. Tillinghast in 1927.
