This is a football day. Even last night was a baseball day. Tom Watson killed golf.

That is quite funny. Only TOC can overcome such ennui.

It probably doesn't surprise you that I have never heard her. After this I will proceed to my taped EPL games.

It probably helps if one has played the course to enjoy it more on tv.

TOC gives me birdie chances that I miss ; PVGC is about avoiding disaster for me. Both set the standard for their types.

Looks like it, Mike!
There's nothing better than seeing TOC in an autumnal sunset for revealing all that nuance. Glorious.

Strawberries and cream.  A delight; subtle commentary and great camera work.  Sunday a.m. see you then...,
This particular event has great, unspoiled charm, without the Flash so common @ high level gatherings.
I would love to play her backwards again, as I did in 03.  My caddy was Dave Coyne.

I've never understood how a coach or team captain can influence the play of his team or his team's opponents.

On the golf course, there's ONLY ONE SET OF HANDS GRIPPING THE CLUB, AND THEY AND THEY ALONE ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE OUTCOME.

Pat, I'm sure you have played in and may have even won as many team events as I have over the past 45+ years. In almost every case the winning team has great chemistry and some form of leadership. From order of play to how and what with you mark your ball, a team rarely wins without some structure. A great captain understands and promotes this sometimes heavy-handedly and sometimes in abstinencia. Winning is rarely random or based solely on talent.

I'm sorry I only saw a few minutes of the broadcast today.  But I did get to see Bill Murray on 18 and Ueleine drive the green at 357 yards.  What is it about horses for courses with Louis Oostheizen (spellling) and Rory posting 62s?   I hope I can catch more of it Sunday morn.  It is always fun to watch the play on the old course and I gotta admit the celebrity component to the Dunhill is more fun than the Pebble Beach clam bake, for my taste.  Although many of the celebs are the same.  Didn't Doak play with Catherine Zeta Jones one year.  Now THAT is a memory! ;D 8)

Nice finish to the tournament today, with Oliver Wilson hitting a career shot for birdie on #16 and making a super up&down to save par on #17. A great win for a guy who needed one.

For a day for which I had ZERO expectations, yesterday was one of the all great sports days.
rained here-perfect=left work early
Multiple great football games and upsets.
5 of top 8 lose in college football, ND game almost another-all thrillers.
18 innings of playoff baseball
TOC on TV
and Katy Perry on game day-I'm a closet fan (I know belongs on the guilty pleasure thread ;D ;D ;) ;))
Only bummer was getting smoked in Ping-Pong by a Euro ;) ::)

Just catching some of the highlights on Sky Sports. Obviously every win is very special to any player, beebut Ollie really was overwhelmed - it was quite touching actually. Good on him.

I can't say I knew him but he grew up in Nottingham playing out of Coxmoor and although he is 5 or 6 years older than me as a kid I got to play with him, see him play in the Macgregor Trophy around my club a few times and got to know quite a few people who saw him grew up. I've never heard a bad word said about him. By all accounts an all round nice guy and a really hard worker. It must have been huge for him today, 9 2nd places,  lost his tour card and then to get an invite and beat this field, finishing at TOC. That's pretty special. I really hope this leads to bigger things for him.
