What about Mike Strantz?

What would be his wildest greens?

And did he mellow with age with Monterey Penn. CC?

On the other end of spectrum, did Rees Jones ever build wild greens? I think his greens are very, very boring.

Scott,

Which of his courses have you played ?

The greens at Atlantic in particular, and the Bridge are anything but boring.

Jeff,

Did you have a name change ?

Scott made a declaritive statement, let's find out which courses he's played that enabled him to make that statement.

I have played RNK and Tobacco Road.

I would say the greens at RNK are more wild than Tobacco Road with no. 3, 6, 7, 10, 12 on the wild side at RNK.

I think the that wildest greens of RTJ Jr would be some of the ones at Chambers Bay. But I have not played many of RTJ Jr courses.

Back in August, I played the East course at Winged Foot in the Westchester Golf Association Caddie Scholarship Pro Am. They've renovated the front ten holes and will do the remaining eight this fall. I hadn't played the East in quite a while. The job they're doing is outstanding. (You go, Neil!) The greens on the East are the wildest I've ever seen, at least by AWT. I think they're more interesting (eccentric?) than those on the West. Love the Cape Arundel nomination, though. On a tight 5,950 yard site (from the back tees), they keep me coming back. The course is so much fun!

Would Yale be the wildest set of greens constructed by Mac/Raynor?

I would put National's greens ahead of Yale's as Macdonald's most severe.  The 1st, 3rd and 6th greens at National are wilder than anything else in Macdonald's work that I can think of, except maybe the 5th green at Mid Ocean.

Raynor's most severe greens might be at Blue Mound in Milwaukee.

That's probably true, however the one thing I am always reminded of after playing NGLA each time, for every green like 1, 3, 6, 11, there's an equal number of dead flat ones: 5, 7, 14 and 17. And a number of others that would qualify as "subtle" like 8, 9 and 18.

Perhaps when Yale's full greens return we can compare the two courses. I'd like to revisit this comparison after the proper dimensions are restored to 1, 3, 6, 7, 8, 12, and 18.

Sounds like heaven to me.  Where is this NGLA you speak of?
