A similar scenario happened at my former home course a few weeks ago: http://www.state-journal.com/local%20news/2014/08/19/sheriff-standoff-ensues-after-teen-shot

Yes.   It is a nice upscale course in the twin cities.    Architecture leaves something to be desired, mostly because it is desgned around houses and has very long walks between holes

Usually hosts US Open qualifying in May.

The Zodiac killer allegedly fled towards the Presido golf course after his 1969 San Francisco murder of a cab driver. He also committed a murder in the parking lot of Blue Rock Springs Golf Course in Vallejo.

I just found the name "the wilds" ironic given the wild situation going on there currently

It'd be really ironic if the course were called "The Fugitive" or "The Hideaway" or "The Sanctuary."

But, well, it's not.

About 10 miles from my house but I've never played it --always very busy. Weiskopf/Moorish design which is pretty unusual up here.

Not sure the point of this double fairway

Right side of the fairway is incredibly steep and ball can roll down hill.   If you can't fly it inside 150 on the right fairway, you should go left.

Stuff like this (there are a couple other split fairways as well) are why I don't like the course.   Lots of architecture that make it very unfun for a 20 handicap but a scratch golfer can just fly over

My former club was closed for the better part of a day a couple years ago because the police were chasing an intruder who was running around the course and scaring the members.  Turns out that the guy was so high (not sure which substance he was on) that he thought he was flying...he actually ran with his arms outstretch like the wings of a bird while he was running from the police.  It took three tasers to finally bring him down (apparently whatever drug he was on also gave him superhuman strength...or no sense of pain).

Had a similar deal a few weeks ago.  Went over for a pre re-opening tour of my course on the east side of Dallas, and police helicopters were all over.  An armed bank robber was hiding in the woods behind 3 green, so the police had us leave the course until the search was over.

Even more unusual, for me, was opening day, some guy asked me to autograph his golf hat.  Then, he followed me to the car and had me autograph some other stuff.  Seemed a bit off his rocker to me.  A few days later, he jumped to his death off a bridge.

A few years ago they had to close the Traditions Golf Course in Jefferson Ga because they found a shaper had buried his wife's body on one of the holes as he was building it....

The golf courses at Celtic Manor in Wales are closed right now because there are armoured cars and fighter planes parked on them!
