By the way, anyone know if there was any play (practice) at RAGC today? I heard the haar was 'in'. If the haar was indeed 'in' I hope it goes as I want to watch the S-O from RAGC from Thurs on the TV.

I am not sure why that matters in any way. Richie Ramsay has likely played Royal Aberdeen at least 5 (possibly 10) times more than just about any other golfer in the field.

I reckon your RR ratio of 5 (or 10) is a severe understatement! and David Law, whose omission from the GB&I Walker Cup team of 2011, when the event was played at RAGC, surprised many, has probably played Balgownie more than anyone else in the field apart from RR by a huge factor too.
Here's hoping RR and DL do well. Injury issues for RR recently I believe.

Haar came in for a very short while in the morning, then clear for the rest of the day.

Looks very nice this morning, heading to the course shortly for a look.

To elaborate on that summary...

That eagle putt rolled eight and a half feet past the hole and Rory looked a little flushed walking over to mark the ball. I fear if he'd missed the comebacker for birdie we might have seen Bad Rory come out and pitch a bit of a tantrum.

Heck, if I ever drove the ball dead straight and a quarter of a mile I might get a little froggy on the eagle putt too!

RAGC looks just great. If you want to double-check which way the wind is blowing at RAGC look to see which way the ships in the bay are pointing.

Who knows, but its the nature of links golf that such shots were being hit way back in the day in the right conditions.

Never played there but 370 yards without a large rise to the green?  

Lets say RA's 13th normally plays more like 445 along the ground?


There may have been other instances but it's a safe bet Tiger won't be hitting driver on No1 in 2017!

I know he did it because I was there, as in at the side of the fairway when the ball landed further back and then ran by us. We couldn't figure out where it had come from and assumed someone was playing a second shot out of the rough.

It was only when Woods walked up that we found out it was his drive. The yardage was something like 430  odd yards and it was certainly reported at the time I'm sure but with nothing like the intensity that he got subsequently for less noteworthy shots.

So you really don't know whether anything has changed distance-wise in the past 20 years?  Really?  

I'd suggest that anyone who doesn't have their head buried deeply in a bunker "knows."
