Augusta ADDS MORE TREES!!!
« on: August 22, 2003, 03:05:40 PM »
Just another reason why Augusta National stands for everything that is wrong with Golf and Golf course arhitecture.

augusta has added more trees to put more of an emphasis of "accuracy" off the tee.

I don't mind it so much if it's the one defense and they aren't overly intrusive.  If there was anything else right on 11 I would have more of a problem.  That's already the big bailout area, I don't see the problem with having to be at least a bit accurate with it.  Like the ones on 15.  I understand risk reward golf but before they put those in pros could blow it 50 yards right (Woosnam in 1991).

Tom Fazio's Augusta National..............Changing the 13th green some more.

This man should be kicked in the testacles.

Not to nitpick...

but it would be testicles[/b]...

Didn't Nicklaus redo the 13th green several years ago and then it has been massaged again, since then, as well...

I disagree...I think Augusta remains one of the few great classic courses that can defend par without stupid rough or unnatural length...Could Augusta be the only course that plays the same everyday of the week..tournament or otherwise.   How much better is that than a one week perpetual rough fest like at Oakmont and Oak Hill.

Tommy Naccarato,

Why do you feel that the 13th green should remain untouched ?

Will Fazio improve it, or diminish it ?

What is he doing ?

redanman, you've got to pythagorean theorem it.  Fifty yards offline adds more like a club at the most.
