Royal Liverpool Conditions New
« on: June 24, 2014, 09:55:41 AM »
Although less than in years past the spring and early summer conditions typically determine the conditions at The Open.  Has anyone been to Royal Liverpool this year or any courses in the area?

Thanks

Brian,

Are you making the mistake of assuming the weather is the same in Liverpool as it is in London?  I don't know about the North West but I know the North East has been significantly wetter than London this year.
In June I will be riding the first three stages of this year's Tour de France route for charity.  630km (394 miles) in three days, with 7800m (25,600 feet) of climbing for the William Wates Memorial Trust (https://rideleloop.org/the-charity/) which supports underprivileged young people.

The North West has actually been pretty dry this year so far, especially compared to what we are normally accustomed to!

If courses here in the Manchester area are firm (which they are), links courses on the Wirral are going to be as dry as a bone.

Yes - I was making said assumption!!

This year you were probably right. Don't assume that's normal though!

PS It has just this moment started pouring with rain...
