I think it is silly to compare the color or the presentation of two courses that have a completely different soil base.

Don, Shouldn't Presentation have some correlation to the core principles of playability, regardless of soil make up?

Adam, how do you or most know how Pinehurst # 2 and ANGC play on days other than those televised for the tournament ?

What principles of playabilty are absent at ANGC ?

Augusta plays as firm as the design allows. I don't see a problem.

And wrong again. Augusta plays nothing like MacKenzie deigned it to play.

How did MacKenzie design it to play ?


Couldn't the argument be made that very few of MacKenzie's courses play as he designed them? Heck, half of them were not even built to the design he had in the first place. Maxwell, Russell, Morcum all toned down some of his ideas.
