Does Payne Stewart advance his approach to the green on 18 in the final round in 1990 if they play the 2014 version? I think that there is a pretty good chance that he hits the green in regulation and a lot of the drama goes out the window with a routine two putt. Result is the same but Stewart's legend would not be what it is after making one of the gutsiest pars ever. Still a great finish but that up and in put the cherry on top.

Only if one group plays the CC version for one hole. Assuming the whole fields plays this version all week then who knows what happens?  It's a four day event. I doubt the setup affects only one group on one hole.

Would Paynes drive have found fairway?  Or the scrub/bunker on the right?

Bill-Is it really necessary to be so logical? Work with me man!  ;)

Mark-He was only about 2 yards off the fairway but even if he finds the scrub/bunker he has a decent chance to advance it to the green. Granted a lot of what ifs but I guess my point is that there are potentially more options than a chop out.
