Tim,

Your groupings are the only true "blanket" groupings with the second grouping contiguous to one another.
The other examples are imposters.

The 36 at Winged Foot are just across Griffin Rd from Quaker Ridge. :-\
Add the 36 at Westchester

There are some clusters of great golf courses that either border or are a stones throw away from each other both in the US and abroad. I will submit two entries and would be interested to hear from the finest minds in golf as to some others.

The others are all long distances from one another when compared to the East End and Westchester courses

Shinnecock

Dave,

WF & QR, A short walk at that, unless you're hit by a car when crossing Griffen Rd/Ave.

Olympia Fields North and South, Flossmoor and Ravisloe. All within two miles. Bob O'Link, Exmoor and Northmoor, all in the same suburb, Highland Park.

ANGC/Augusta CC

Friends or adverarsies - very interesting one. When was the last time an Augusta CC member was invited to play A National. And I'm not talking about the guy who acts as marker every year at the Masters
probably yesterday....

Yup.  There are "several" members of Augusta CC that are also members of ANGC.  There are also many guys who are members of ACC that play ANGC several times a year.

Nonsense post.
adversaries? they're golf courses.
i would venture a guess that EVERY local ANGC member is also a member at ACC, and plays far more rounds per year at ACC.
Consequently many ACC members are invited to play at ANGC annually

Old Mac
Pacific Dunes
Bandon Trails
Punchbowl
Bandon Preserve
Bandon Muni
Bandon Dunes
Sheep Ranch

Jud T,

You're a moron, that's one resort.

Pinehurst and the nearby clubs were there almost a century ago.

Why not name Bethpage ?

Tim was referencing separate entities, not Doral like resorts

Comprehension man, comprehension.

For sheer size tough to beat Belek with 270 holes of golf, all bordering each over! Admittedly not in the same bracket quality wise as those mentioned already

Someone mentioned Troon and Prestwick. Except for a couple stretches of homes in the middle, it is almost possible to play cross country all the way from Northern Gailes and Western Gailes to Prestwick.

Start at Northern Gailes; Western Gailes; Dundonald; Kilmarnock; Barassie; Troon munie; Darley; Lochgreen; Royal Troon; and finally Prestwick.

Going from east to west, the entrance to Milwaukee Country Club is about a 1/4-mile from the entrance to Brown Deer Golf Course (site of the former Milwaukee GMO PGA tour stop), which is about three or four city blocks from the entrance to Tripoli CC (Bendelow), which is about three to four blocks from the entrance of the Wisconsin Club golf course (formerly Brynwood CC, originally a William Diddel design). As the crow flies, those four courses are separated by about two miles.

Addendum: The well-under-the-radar Big Foot CC in Walworth County, WI (maybe Bendelow's best 18 holes in Wisconsin), is about a 1/4-mile from the criminally unknown Country Club Estates (maybe the best 9-hole course in Wisconsin; another Bendelow), which itself is about a half-mile from the Killian-Nugent Abbey Springs, near the western edge of Lake Geneva.

The 14th tee at Baltray (highest point on the course) backs onto the the 16th (I think) tee at Seapoint.

Royal Portrush to Portstewart is a long-ish walk (and Castlerock a brave swim across the Bann estuary from the latter :))

There are two courses north of DFW Airport that you could throw a blanket over.  Grapevine G.C. is a 27 hole public opened in 1979 and recently renovated by DA Weibring - an enjoyable and challenging course.  Right next to it, separated by good old Texas "bob" wire, is Cowboys Golf Club designed by Jeff Brauer.
As opposed to Grapevine, Cowboys is a $200/round experience.  It is not uncommon to be playing one course and see golfers playing on the other.

A little further west you've got:
Stonewall Old (Doak)
Stonewall North (Doak)
French Creek (Hanse)

all of which bump up against each other.  Not a bad way to spend 54 holes.  I have found all three of these modern courses to be very enjoyable.

Pawleys Plantation, Founders Club, Heritage, True Blue and Caledonia are essentially contiguous in Pawleys Island. Not bad, as far as public/resort golf goes.

CC of Rochester
Oak Hill
Irondequoit
Monroe

These four courses are only 5 kilometres apart in Rochester, NY and look like a nice cluster for a golf trip for Ross enthusiasts.

TK

This stretch is incredible. You don't even need a car to play them consecutively.
