Apologies for being pedantic but GB&I is actually two countries. That said I'm happy enough with where I am having the benefit of lots of good, fun, affordable golf much of which can be played all year although it would be nice to experience spells in other countries to compare.

I'd probably vote France or the Netherlands. Canada must have more quality than either, but it is a hell of a long way from Cabot Links to Capilano, and in most places the season is shorter. Maybe Japan?

I would probably opt for Portugal.  The golf isn't the best, but its a lovely country that gets some decent weather.  Where the golf lacks (and it bad by a long stretch) the country makes it up with interesting wine and fish.  Nederland might be my second choice, but geez, is the golf that good to put up with the weather and the Dutch ways    France is an easy selection except most of the good golf is north when the bulk of what makes France cool is in the south - bad match up.

The Dominican Republic actually might be a pretty tough to beat. If you don't mind only playing modern courses, there seems to be some real quality ones down there, and given the length of season, plus the beach.

Bermuda, if you know the right people, would do fine too.

Otherwise, the largest variety in links courses, or classic age courses are found in, Netherlands and Japan.

Bermuda is a pretty good year round call, and quick access to US.

Leaving Paris out of it for those who may not like big cities, the north has Rennes and Mont St Michel, Fontainbleau, Amiens and the Somme valley, Strasbourg and Le Touquet.

It has the dramatic Atlantic coastline, it has the awesome hybrid culture on the German border, it has the channel towns.

And, because who would want to set it aside, it has PARIS, which for every famous attraction has 10 more awesome things to see and do that don't get big headlines.

The only thing the south has that the north lacks is a temperate climate.

I like Paris, but its big limitation is also its appeal, its a big city.  I have been many times and I may go again. 

To each is own, but I would rather live or holiday in Languedoc than anywhere in the north.  I find Languedoc far more interesting culturally and topographically than the north.  And Languedoc is only one area in the south.  With the Rhone Valley, Cote de Azur and Roussillion as near neighbours Languedoc is centred in one of the greatest tourist destinations in the world.  I didn't know much about the area until buying a house near Mirepoix in the Ariege.  It took a few years to dig into corners, but the more corners I found the more I realized there are too many corners to count.
