My next original thought will apparently be my first:
From Publishers Weekly
"A journalist and coauthor of several books about golf with noted coach Bob Rotella, Cullen muses about the game in an effort to find out why people are so passionate about the sport and whether there's a unique psychological trait shared by golfers. Cullen doesn't see himself as an expert player, but that has never diminished his enthusiasm for the game, and he'll get out on any course with any pro golfer. For this book, he's interviewed professional golfers, coaches and scientists to find some reasons why the sport is so important to so many people. While Cullen doesn't reach a specific conclusion, he finds that some people align golf with early man's need for hunting and space. According to Cullen, that's why some people simply go from course to course around the world, eager to play in different surroundings. Other people play in anticipation of that rare incandescent moment when they're able to hit a near-perfect shot. One of the most interesting observations here is Cullen's view of older players. Most of the players on the senior circuit still love the game and still see themselves as learning and improving. Serious golf fans who enjoy intellectualizing about the sport will enjoy this book, but ordinary players looking for practical tips should look elsewhere."

If a magazine already uses "Best of Golf", just change to "Best in Golf" :)

Apart from that I would second the suggestion to leave "Golf" out of the title and instead have a world like "magic" in it.

"Our game" was by far the best title proposed.  It mirrored and created a sense of our community and of our diversity.  Whatever any of us write, it will never be "The Best of Golf"--except in our own individual minds.

It's neither catchy nor sticky.  IMO, it's too generic and doesn't connote, frankly, anything.   A football or chess or badminton site could have the same section title.

I agree Dave.  "The Game of Golf" would not be at all approriate for a badminton architecture site.

I have to say: "Best of golf" is pretty hard to beat. Cos it nicely encompasses all of the extraneous stuff off the course as well. The kind of stuff that elevates a day that notch higher on the special scale.

You're thinking about lunch at Swinley aren't you?

Ran, I don't have much time these days with a struggling business(es), and 5 kids, but I do love this idea here. But specifically I wanted to comment on your podcast interview on the State of the Game podcast about dogs not being allowed on the course.
Just wanted you to know that me, my dog, my clubs and my cigar are enough to elicit a wave from anyone on Lookout Mountain. Both Black Creek and Lookout allow dogs on the course. Lookout once even memorably had a dog that lived on the course known as "Squirrel Dog." He was every golfer's golf dog. Sat when you addressed the ball, never walked on the greens, and stayed out of the bunkers. Went bonkers for squirrels, though. Sadly, Squirrel Dog has passed.
Come see us sometime.

cant belive that golf went into the title of the "special" features...I thought we had more imagination than that.
However I very much look forward to the compositions.
