It would be interesting (to me) to see what his contract really included.  Most times, when a name pro goes in and puts their name on it, there is no implied guarantee that name will sell memberships.  Ditto any golf design contract.  But, it sounds like Dick took on more than that, at least from this article.

I don't see how anyone could guarantee the sale of memberships or lots or anything of the sort.  The Crash of 2007-2008 wiped out a lot of dreams.  As always, timing is everything.   I'd encourage anyone who hasn't been to Sagebrush to try and get there soon.  It's a great course, great experience, and the Hideout has to be seen to be believed.  Rod Whitman has designed two spectacular courses at Sagebrush and Cabot Links, two of the most fun I've played in years.

That is a shame. I really loved my day at Sagebrush almost as much as any course I have played. It is a really special place, just HARD to get to.
