Never really considered it before but in many ways it would seem to fit. I'm not even sure I'd be too upset with him moving in on Gleneagles either. It would seem a neater fit, particularly now that Nicklaus has build a second rate track to host the Ryder Cup on. He could add his crass fountains to that particular part of the property and probably no one would be too upset.
Perhaps he feels the site of a USA victory would be a far bigger source of increased revenue than the site of an American defeat and is waiting accordingly. Or perhaps he's not that bright.
For all that I dislike the guy, clearly he does like proper golf so I guess the allure of the links is a factor.
