Hole 14: Par 5 - 469 yds
*Great risk/reward Par 5 that runs along the edge of the quarry.  With a good drive on the correct angle, the green is reachable in two.  There is plenty of room to bail out right on your second shot leaving a short pitch to the green which is below the fairway.

Hole 15: Par 4 - 350 yds
*The signature hole and one of the most photographed holes in golf.  Extremely narrow fairway beginning 200 yds off the tee.  This is a beautiful hole to see in person.  However, it is poorly executed from a design perspective.  The tee shots begs you to hit a driver as does your golfing soul!  The prudent play, unfortunately, is to hit a long iron or hybrid about 180 yds leaving you with a mid to long iron approach.  Yes, it is risk/reward, but having a large portion of the fairway no more than 15 yds wide forces your hand off the tee.

Looks like two different courses.  Thanks for posting.

Was there in January.

I actually thought the course was very very good, especially for a Florida course. Loved the movement and some really great holes.

I had no idea where this course was. I would not have guessed Florida from the photos.

I have to disagree with you assessment of 15. It is not just a hybrid and middle iron.  Hit whatever you want.  I hit driver and sand wedge last fall when I was there.  Hit a little draw off the bunker or a fade into the fairway with the bunker complex as bailout.  Or hit something short. There a a lot of choices off the tee.

Easily the Pebble Beach of Lecanto.

Whats a risk reward par 5?

Couldn't help but notice all the sand. Is this course on one of Florida's sand ridges?

This is what Florida looked like before global cooling and the ice age. It looks like Lecanto may have been ancient sea shore.

Is there a separate green fee available to only play holes 13 to 17, because the rest looks like a reason to give up golf.  ;D
In the places where golf cuts through pretension and elitism, it thrives and will continue to thrive because the simple virtues of the game and its attendant culture are allowed to be most apparent. - Tim Gavrich
