Ferry Point Pictorial April/2014
« on: April 17, 2014, 11:22:47 AM »
Sorry I am not versed in how to post actual pics, but I can post links if anyone is interested of the recent photos.    Sand is in the bunkers, fescue will not be fully developed until about June/July, and that is when the course will look most mature.
The link below is of the tee shot on #1.   If there is interest, I will continue to post the link of all the holes as they looked as of Monday, April 14, 2014, just coming out of winter....although snow was predicted for Tuesday night after I left town....so maybe it isn't over just yet.

Thanks for this. Would absolutely love to see everything you got. Ferry Point will likely be my home course next year.

Short, downwind par 5 for member play, long par 4 for any major tournament play.   515 yards from back tees.

FYI, we can't view the pics as your posting them. Those are just filepaths to your computer's hard drive. Others may be able to chime in but I'd guess the easiest way would probably be to create a Flickr or Photobucket account and upload them to an album, then share the album with us.

I'm not sure about others, but I cannot see these pics as posted - the address appears to point to your home computer, not a web link.  The link below goes to a thread about posting images on GCA.

I'd also like to say thank you for taking and posting these pics - very curious about Ferry Point.  Can't wait to see them!

You're almost there, Jim!

Just one more step: click on the picture icon above this text window (2nd row, 2nd icon -  looks like a painting ) and then paste your pic between the brackets, like this :

No worries at all! Thank you for trying. You're getting there. If you wanted to email the pics to me I could set them up. Either way, these three are looking good to go:

Mike,

Sounds like you had a negative reaction to this hole. If so, that was my feeling as well. Looks too fake to me. Looks like it is trying to appear natural and just fails that test. Just turned me off.

My reaction is to the picture only. Haven't seen the course in person.

My intent was to be neutral with my questions
Jim has a ton of experience and his values lie more in the golf course than in posting pictures - so I was trying to get him to talk to his strengths

Mike,

Apologies if I misread and misrepresented you. As I said, my reaction to the picture was pretty negative and thought others might have the same reaction.

Wish someone would do a thread on how not to look fake when trying to look natural.

Tim,

If building a golf course in the middle of 8.5 million people on a polluted site, in the middle of da Bronz, next to MAJOR thoroughfares in NYC, next to a now very sensitive environmental zone, next to people that are trying to get to the end of the month is easy, then sign me up for one of those hand waving Golf Architect jobs!

Not sure how many "Dead Guys" that Tom Doak and Bill Coore have built courses on top of, but I am guessing that Jack Nicklaus is #1 today!  ;)

Fake? Please define fake!!
